It is our great honour to welcome you to the 9th Iteration of the Taylor’s Lakeside Model United Nations Conference 2026. We are truly grateful for your presence and participation in this esteemed conference. 

As Co-Secretary-Generals this year, it is our privilege to invite each of you to be part of a journey that extends beyond committee sessions and diplomatic negotiations. Over the next three days, not only will you be representing nations, but also ideas, values, and the courage to speak with conviction. For many, this conference may be a place of firsts - first speech, first resolution, first time engaging with diverse perspectives. We hope it becomes a space where you feel welcomed, supported, and inspired to discover both your potential and your purpose. 

Our theme this year, “The Virtue of Voice, The Siege of Silence,” serves as both a reflection and a call to action. Reminding us that every voice matters, especially voices of young people who dare to speak with honesty, compassion, and courage. In a world where silence can often feel easier than speaking out, we hope this theme encourages you to use your voice with confidence and integrity. Youth have always stood at the heart of change, being bold enough to question, hopeful enough to imagine, and determined enough to build a better future. 

Model United Nations reminds us that diplomacy begins with dialogue, grounded in empathy, respect, and collaboration. Every speech, resolution, and negotiation is an opportunity to learn, lead, and grow. Challenges and differing perspectives are inevitable, however, they shape resilient and compassionate leaders. They remind us that progress is built through understanding, not division. 

Beyond committee sessions, we hope this conference broadens perspectives and creates lasting memories. To returning delegates, welcome back; to first-time delegates, welcome to a community built on curiosity, respect, and leadership. Regardless of experience, remember that your voice is valued and capable of making a difference. As we gather by the lakeside, history reminds us that change is shaped by those who speak with purpose. Even the smallest voice can inspire meaningful change.
